Forsyth Recreation

HUNTING:
Eastern Montana is a hunter's paradise, and Forsyth makes a great headquarters for your large or small hunting party. The area offers a huge variety of game, and the scenic vistas of eastern Montana have a beauty all their own. Best of all, you may have several square miles all to yourself -- our uncrowded conditions are the envy of hunters in more populous areas of the region. Several guides in the area offer any kind of hunting experience you desire, and guest house accommodations are available on several area farms and ranches. After you bag your game, it can be processed locally and shipped to you, and our taxidermy professionals will make your trophy ready for display.

WATER SPORTS:
Fisherman and other nature lovers are always eager to spend time on the Yellowstone River, which runs right next to Forsyth. The river is just a couple of minutes from any of our motels; in fact, many people choose to walk from their motel room to the river. Locals and visitors alike love to stop and spend some quiet time by the river; if you'd like to stay a little longer, picnic and camping facilities are available. Agate hunting is another popular local pastime, with many prized Montana moss agates found yearly along the banks of the Yellowstone.

WALKING/HIKING/RUNNING:
If you're just up for a walk, the Forsyth area abounds in places for you to stretch your legs. Take a walk on the "nature trail" at the East Rosebud State Recreation area; you never know what awaits on this trail that skirts the edge of the Yellowstone River. (There's even a rope swing.) Or, wander around town and look at dozens of historic buildings; relax in our well-kept parks, or stroll around the grounds of the Rosebud County Courthouse. If you're more adventurous, trek across the river on the bridge and get close to Montana's big sky. Or, go the other direction to the Forsyth Springs and quench your thirst with great tasting spring water before heading back to town. If you are a bicyclist or enjoy running or jogging, our low levels of traffic and great scenery combine to give you an enjoyable outdoor experience.

SPORTS:
If you're in the mood for sports, Forsyth's parks offer tennis courts, a running track, softball and football fields, and playground equipment in several locations. Parks range in size from MacConnel Park, an intimate quiet retreat, to Riverside and Marceyes Parks, both of which offer picnic facilities, playground equipment plenty of shade. Golfing at Forsyth Country Club is another great pastime. Indoor sports opportunities include bowling at Evergreen Lanes, swimming at Forsyth Municipal Pool, and darts and shuffleboard at various night spots. If you prefer to watch your sporting events from the sidelines, Forsyth High School has a full schedule of football, basketball and wrestling each year, all of which offer plenty of chances to watch high-energy sports action.

MOVIES:
The Roxy Theatre offers the latest movies in a modern comfortable environment. Digital surround sound, fresh popcorn every night, and low ticket prices combine to offer you a great evening's entertainment. The Roxy is located in the middle of downtown Forsyth and is a short walking distance from several motels.

GOLF:
Forsyth Golf Course offers nine holes worth of spectacular eastern Montana scenery. The well-maintained course is a challenge for golfers of any skill level, with plenty of trees, water features and sand traps. The pro shop has club and cart rentals, and a full line of golf equipment. After your round, stop by the clubhouse for a cocktail at the "19th hole" and watch a beautiful Montana sunset from the deck.
